Taking the IELTS exam in Hong Kong

As an IELTS tutor I have met people from all over the world who are preparing to take the IELTS exam. In previous articles I wrote about taking the exam in The UK, Canada and Australia. This article will focus on taking the exam in Hong Kong.

Many employers view IELTS results as the gold standard when it comes to determining a person's English skills. Hong Kong is home to many multinational companies and English is the preferred language of communication. It has become increasingly common for employers to specifically ask for IELTS results from candidates when interviewing for jobs.

If your dream to is to study at an English speaking university or college then a solid IELTS score will help open the door for you. Virtually all further and Higher Education organizations accept IELTS results. Contact specific institutions for their entry requirements. Remember that there are two IELTS exams - the academic test and the general test. The academic test is required for students wishing to further their studies. Commonly the general test is taken for immigration or employment purposes.
